Imaging to observe a postcard of the Florence city you can notice that
the historical centre of Florence is travelled along by the Arno river.
The Arno river, which travel along between the inlet of the Florence
city, is characterized by the presence of numerous bridges.
The most
famous or well-known bridges in Florence are: the St Nicolò Bridge,
which was the first bridge built in Florence during the nineteenth
century period; the Grazie Bridge, which was interlay built with stone
with nine arches.
The most emblematic bridge in Florence is represented
by the “Ponte Vecchio” (the Old Bridge), which is characterized by three
big arches and by the presence of numerous workshops of jeweler,
goldsmithing and professional craftsman.
Others bridges, but not less important, are the Carraia Bridge, which
its original name was the “Ponte Nuovo” (the New Bridge); the Amerigo
Vespucci Bridge which was the first bridge of Florence employed for the
headquarters service; the Vittoria Bridge, which was destroyed by the
Germans and successively rebuilt; Santa Trinità Bridge, its name derive
from the name of the Church of Santa Trinità and the first bridge made
of wood financed by the noble Frescobaldi.
